post-it notes that have lost their sticky

So … I noticed that my little ‘Post-It Note Comment’ notebook is filling up again. While reading through my scribblings, I found a few oldies that I thought I’d share with the likes of you. Enjoy.

During a recent weekend excursion that Brian and Stacy took to Birmingham, they found themselves in the Apple store. Of course. They left – also, of course – with some purchases. Anyone that can guess what Brian got can give themselves a pat on the back. Because Stacy's sure everyone and their dog can guess what he got. And she can’t afford to pay off those kinds of numbers.

When they were exiting the store for the last time (after multiple visits and plenty of ‘Should I or Shouldn’t I’ conversation), Stacy asked Brian how he was feeling. His response?

Ex-Stat-Ick Joy.”

Later that same night, she heard him muttering to himself. Things like, “It even smells good.”

Also while in Birmingham, Brian and Stacy ate at PF Chang’s. Scrumptious, naturally. While they were waiting for their meal, Brian was telling Stacy about the time he ate at that same restaurant while in town for some work training. He was re-explaining to her the different sauces you can use and how one of this co-workers had ordered a really spicy entrée. He finished his monologue with the statement:

“We had to use a lot of white vinegar to tone down her chicken. ‘Cause it was ‘Come on Baby Light My Fie-yah’.”

Yes. Stacy very nearly fell out of her chair.

During one of their many visits down to Brian’s parents house over the last month or so, the Thomases Three happened upon a rare moment when they were alone at the house. Ammon was teetering on the edge of a nap, sitting loose-as-a-goose on Brian’s lap. Brian was channel surfing. Stacy spotted ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ on TLC. The rest goes as follows:

Stacy: “Oh, oh! ‘Say Yes to the Dress’, please.”

Brian continues to change the channel in the opposite direction.

Stacy: “Did you hear me? Can we watch ‘Say Yes to the Dress’?”

Brian continues to change the channel in the opposite direction.

Stacy: “Uh … ‘Say Yes to the Dress’?”

Brian continues to change the channel in the opposite direction.

Stacy: “Say. Yes. To. The. Dress.

Brian, muttering: “Say No to the Show.”

During their previously mentioned trip to Birmingham, Stacy was watching some random show on HGTV about something. Really … she has no idea what it was about. But she found herself watching someone repairing a boat. With all this fancy-shmancy paraphernalia and terminology. Brian paused for a minute mid-Apple-exuberance, and said:

“They didn’t have all those tools when Nephi built his boat.”

Ammon, while disobediently sitting on the ottoman, bent over to take off his socks. He pauses. He sniffs his feet. And responds:

“These stinks.”

so i was going to write 'birdie beaks' and then post, snickering...but it occurred to me that the back and forth might get lengthy. just let me say how grateful i am for a heart full of memories of sunday mornings, when we should have been at least attempting reverence, but instead were scribbling on the program...i still have it, you know. how i love you!

One of my most favorite posts ever! I think the "Fie-yah" sealed it for me. That & the channel surfing- same thing scenario (including show) has happened over here.
