baby jenna | sneak peek

She fell right in line, goose-stepping alongside her mom and I - and proved that she is the perfect addition to a well-oiled machine.
Jenna Lynn. The Mitchell Miss.
For this little lady, my living room became my studio once again. We flew by the seat of our pants, we moved the furniture, we swung from the chandelier - and the room exploded in pink and frills. And these two moms - who up until now have known nothing but boys - had the time of their lives (and we hope that she will one day forgive us for all the male pronouns ... wretched habits). I painted her darling toenails. And adjusted her tutu as only a dancer can.
And since, I’ve even cracked open the girl box for her. Something I hold very close, and very dear. Something I have kept very guarded of late. Something I wouldn’t do for just anyone. But for her ... well. For her, I did it.
This goes without saying. But I’ll say it anyway. It was the perfect afternoon.
Not only did I get to spend some much needed time with my friend Becky, which I’ve missed - but I was able to spend some time with Jenna in complete and total peace. And that is exactly what I felt while in her presence.
Peace.
I snuggled her; I stroked her fingers. I counted her toes, and I caressed her head. Our hearts had a bit of a conversation - and I’m grateful and honored to have had one so pure in my home that day. To have the windows of heaven propped open, letting in a gentle breeze.
Yes. A perfect afternoon. The perfect afternoon.
I didn’t think of it in the moment - but in retrospect, I’m a little saddened by the knowledge that this will be the last Mitchell baby that I will photograph. Make that a lot saddened. She was the fourth. Bittersweet.
But I have to say ... what a way to go.
Jenna. Oh ... there is something special about you, sweet girl. You are a valiant soul. You are beautiful. Now, tomorrow, and always. I simply can’t wait to watch you grow, and to document the memories of your life. As with your brothers before you, I am excited to see the impact your life has on your family. A group my heart burns with love for.
Most importantly, I’m thankful that I am one of those blessed with the opportunity of knowing you. And that I will be able to goose-step beside you - and watch you touch the world for good. Complete and utter good, as pure as gold.
I love you. Now, tomorrow and always.
Enjoy.

victoria and jonathan, we are a family | sneak peek

I was finally granted the opportunity of meeting these two back in January ... the very day they became engaged.
What a way to start a friendship.
These are new friends that I am honored to number in my life. New friends, that are turning out to be pretty special. And I simply couldn’t be happier for them as they embark on a beautiful life together.
How I enjoyed spending this afternoon with them, and the ever-charming Noah. Despite the brutal sun and sniffing a gnat up my nose (... still shuddering about that one ...) - it was an afternoon that I cherish. One of my very favorite things is capturing the love shared between individuals. And these two had that love in abundance. That day ... and every day.
V ... What can I say? You are sublimely divine, inside and out. A woman after my own heart. I’m thankful to call you ‘friend’. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for you. Even though I just met you ... I know you deserve this. You create beautiful things; you radiate beautiful things. And this new chapter in your life is yet another thing I know you will make beautiful. Sublimely so ... just like yourself.
Jonathan ... You truly are a gem. I can see how happy you make my friend; how happy you make each other. And I am happy for you. Thank you for your willingness to let me document that love this day. You helped to make my job easy. Even though I was completely had - and was convinced you were a model from Puerto Rico. I always say, any man who is willing to have their picture taken (or at least fakes it well) is a keeper. And as Victoria knows ... you are.
Truly - it was an afternoon that warrants cherishing. And it was one that I was honored to take part in. Thank you both.
Yes. How happy I am for them. How happy I am for all of them. As Noah so rightly said: We are a family.
Enjoy.
