ammon is 3
Hard to believe. Again.
Ammon turned the big 0-3 on the 7th. His party wasn’t until the 11th, but we had a little celebration at home – just for us. We had his favorite dinner – cheeseburgers, corndogs and fries from our favorite hole-in-the-wall, Jimmy’s. Gosh, I love this boy’s taste. I did make brownies – and we got some ice cream with dinner. I cracked out the candles, and we sang ‘Happy Birthday’. As fire is one of Ammon’s many fears: Brian gets to blow out all his candles.
After dinner, Ammon opened his presents from Brian and me. He got some new DVDs (primarily a new Mighty Machines), a new box of Hotwheels and his Tokyo Mater – all things that he has been ‘patiently’ waiting for. He also got a new coloring book and some Dr. Seuss alphabet cards.
The highlight of the evening? The obligatory tissue-paper-war. Of course.
Even though we simply cannot believe it – we’re grateful that Ammon is three. We’re glad we’ve made it this far, to be honest. We look forward to what lies ahead. We are thankful for him and for his sweet, sweet spirit. We are in love with his lively personality. We are thrilled with how he continues to grow. He continues to rock our world.
Ammon has entered into a very fun phase. The world of ‘3’. And – despite its frightening drawbacks - we welcome it with open arms. Open arms that are filled with him, to be specific. Just like our hearts.
Now … if he would use the potty, cut out the dramatics, and stop grinding his teeth … we would be doing peachy keen. Until then – we’ll take him just the way he is. That’s peachy keen enough. Because … we couldn’t love him any more, anyway.
