projects, anyone?

It’s times like these that I really miss having cable. The Olympics are ongoing - and I am missing it. Even though I am not a huge Summer Olympics fan - the Winter Olympics bring me pure joy - I do really enjoy some events, Gymnastics in particular. Like so many others, I am feeling some serious USA pride. I have finally found where I can watch complete coverage, rather than clips, of events online. Actually - as I am typing this post, I am also watching the Women’s Team Final. Talk about multitasking… that’s something I have become very, very good at lately.

It has been raining for days. Much needed rain - and it has cooled down the summer heat to a low boil. I really do like rainy weather… as long as I don‘t have to get out in it. When overcast days come my way, I have a huge urge to clean, organize and rearrange. So, I guess that this enormous outpouring of rain that we have received lately has truly been heaven sent - I really need to be doing those things.

Projects, you say? Yes… projects. I have been a busy bee - working on several little things that I have been wanting/meaning to do. One of those things is making inserts for all of our slim DVD cases (the cases that house our home movies and the DVDs that have been copied from VHS tapes). I got tired of having to open each case to see what was inside. Now, the title(s) are printed on the sides as well as on the front cover. The content of each home movie is printed on the cover, so we know which Ammon-antics happen on each disk. This was definitely not a pleasant job, but it is done - and what a good feeling.

It’s a funny thing, the project. I seem to be the poster child for projects. I was speaking to my friend, Kristy, yesterday afternoon about the DVD-case-thing, and she said, “You’re always doing a project.”. True. I am. Another friend commented lately that because she feels she has no accomplishments outside of being a mother, she has a sense of lost identity - and while she loves being a mother, she doesn't need to ignore herself. I love working on projects… certain ones, anyway. They often come as a creative outlet. They often make me feel happy. They always provide a sense of accomplishment that you just can’t beat.
